This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

White boards are fun! Help keep kids engaged and motivated to learn by providing an alternative to plain old paper and pencil. Added bonus: lowering our cost of buying paper and doing our part to conserve the environment!

My students are in the first grade at an under-funded, inner city public school in California.

Many come from disadvantaged situations and/or low socioeconomic backgrounds. Having these resources at school helps to engage them in the learning process and keep their attention so we can maximize their learning potential.

My Project

The applications of using these white boards in my class are literally endless! Each student will have their own paddle-shaped white board and dry erase marker to write or draw with. They will be able to practice writing words and short sentences, draw pictures as they hear a story, spell high-frequency/sight words, draw math patterns, and construct and solve math problems.

Not only will my students be able to practice spelling, phonics, reading comprehension, and math skills, but I will be able to quickly and effectively assess their skill levels and offer differentiated instruction as needed.

We will also be able to cut down on our use of paper, which will impact the school's budget as well as the environment.
