Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting decodable resources to support my diverse learners. I will have students that are learning English as a second language, students with learning disabilities, and students who are reading at or above grade level.

Explicit phonics instruction is good for all students.

Students need opportunities to practice the skills they are learning through our phonics programs. The Orton Gillingham passages and the decodable reader follow the Science of Reading research that says students need to be explicitly taught phonics. These decodable passages will give them a way to practice. Having different levels will allow me to differentiate for learners.

I am also requesting organization materials. The photo boxes will hold manipulatives and task cards for learning stations. The menu holders hold photocopies of tools and practice for students to use dry-erase markers. No classroom can ever have too many plastic bags; the bags will be used to hold decodable texts for students to take home and practice.
