My Project

Classrooms need libraries and those libraries need books that are fun to read and also books that help teach lessons. A child's time in elementary school is when they really begin to explore their emotions as they continuously change. I would love to add the Little SPOT book collection to my classroom library to help assist students in identifying and working through emotions in a positive manner. Through reading, I can keep the children engaged in learning valuable lessons on how to positively process the emotions being felt without negatively impacting others. I like to have books available in my calm down area so that students can read or have a book read to them that relates to how they are feeling. I also really enjoy teaching my students about important people and moments in history. Having books available helps me to engage the students in read-alouds where we can pause and have discussions instead of just tuning them into a read-aloud on the smart board. I want my students to be engaged in learning and not focused on screens.
