Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading is such an empowering tool and experience. I would love my students to be interested in reading to understand that it can take them anywhere. My biggest challenge getting them there is the lack of high-interest books and lighting their internal literacy flame.

My students are a wide range of abilities and personalities.

They are motivated to do their best and match the expectations bestowed upon them by the teachers and staff members of this school. Each one of them brings their own story every day, but I am so happy that they show up to learn. They thrive in an environment that allows them to be themselves and explore the many dimensions of this country.

My Project

The class set Of Mice and Men will be used to open a whole world of knowledge for my students. They will learn history through a classic story and be exposed to the wonderful world of reading. They will be used in discussions and writing projects where students will be able to be proud of their accomplishments. It will highlight the world as it was and they will learn to appreciate the world as it is for them now.

Donations to this project will improve my classroom because it will show my students that people are willing to invest in their education and they should too.

Also, hopefully they will learn to love reading and continue to do so when they move up in life. These donations will enrich our discussions and make us come together as a class to improve all of our learning regardless of individual abilities.
