My Students

My students are currently on their way to completing a 25 book challenge! I am eager to help them become hooked on reading by diving into different series. Studies have shown that reading in volume leads to higher rate of student success. Please help my class to become life long readers.

My students are in 6th grade and come from different boroughs all over New York City.

We are one of the largest middle schools in New York and therefore have a very diverse population. Our particular class is made up of both special education and general education students. Each of them are very excited to begin their journey as advanced readers, and I would like to make sure that they have the resources that they need.

My Project

Students will be able to check these books out of our classroom library and use them for independent reading and homework. Each book they complete will require them to conference with a teacher, as well as fill out a book celebration form. This will help my co-teacher and myself see what they have gained from reading, as well as focus on different reading skills to assist in moving up a reading level.

Your donation will help students fall in love with reading and help to instill confidence in themselves as readers.

We look forward to building a classroom culture that revolves around reading.
