This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having big emotions is something all children experience, but how to handle those emotions can be difficult for children who are diagnosed with Autism. My students will use the Conversation Cubes to promote discussion of feelings during Morning Meeting. Students will work in small groups, as well as with a partner, to play the board games. Instruction will be based on social emotional vocabulary, teaching students to take turns, as well as follow the rules of the games.

My students will learn how to identify their emotions such as anger, happiness and frustration.

My students will learn how to respond to their feelings appropriately using games that promote social emotional learning. The Happy or Not board game is just one great activity I plan to use to teach my students how to handle their emotions in everyday life.
