This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are unique in their personalities and background but deeply connected in their commitment to learning more about the world and discovering their role in it.

My students are active learners invested in working together and learning things that will help them now and in the future.

They share a deep interest in the world and make the most of every learning activity I provide to them, and even better they work together to create their own enriching experiences.

My Project

I am lucky enough to be with the same students I have had for the past two years. Their dedication to learning and eagerness to explore has not changed, but our budget has. We have suffered many cuts and one of them is field trips. My students and I want to do something about it which is why we want to turn our unit on economics into a hands-on experience. As students study economic principles, marketing, and learn about current trends they will put what they learn into practice through fundraising projects. This way students will enhance their learning as well as gain financial literacy skills through real-world fundraising and event planning. To do this we need supplies for a school dance complete with photo booth, school snack sale, and playground yard sale. We want to learn how to earn through study and practice.
