My Students

My class is composed of special needs students who are participating in community based instruction. My students come from families with limited resources. Most do not have computers at home which makes it so important for them to have a computer in school.

They require multistory approaches to instruction.

Due to the limited resources in our school, we often do not have access to instructional tools to enhance presentation of the curriculum in order to meet the students' special needs.

My Project

Having a laptop in the classroom will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. One way this can help would be to give students the ability to complete projects having to do with technology and community based instruction.

Students with special needs require different approaches to learning, including technology.

The children in my class have diverse learning needs. By giving them the opportunity to use technology, it will help them succeed and prepare them for the future. Students will be able to us the computer to complete resumes, conduct job searches and practice receiving and sending email. Our ultimate goal with community based instruction is for the students to find a job and in today's environment almost everyone needs a computer to apply for a job.
