My Students

Chicago Public School is a district full of special, diverse, and unique children with needs that mirror this. Due to poor budgeting students like mine stuffer from inadequate resources like: crowded classrooms and never enough technological equipment.

My students are very eager to learn and very excited about their first grade year!

84 percent of our students come from low-income homes and most students live in a neighborhood that is high in violence and crime. Despite their circumstances they are ready to learn and grow this year!

My Project

Having a classroom set of Amazon Fires will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. One way students will use their Fires is to practice individualized math during small groups. Students can login into Amazon's Tenmark program to start their teacher selected math path. I will also download other apps for various math practice skills, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students. Another way they will use their Amazon Fries is by recording group projects to present to the class. Students will also use these during small group reading time with the teacher. Each student will focus on their reading level, while reducing the amount of paper needed for productive small groups.

My project will make a difference because it will give students exposure to technology that they might not otherwise have.

Our school is not at the level technologically to meet my students needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap even more.
