My Students

We start our day with conversations about our expectations. At the end of the year I would like for my students to be reading on or above grade level. I want them to be proficient in Math and also to have an understanding of content materials. The biggest challenge is the lack of resources.

The students are from diverse population and mostly from low income families. They are eager to learn but in many cases lack the resources which hinders the process.

About 90% of the students qualify for free lunch. Some of the student are ELLs and need extra support to make the appropriate growth academically. The school creates and maintain a partnership between the home and school. We have Parents as Learning Partners and is in the process of offering GED and ESL classes to the parents.

My Project

Having a lap top - the students will be able to access the smart board. They will be able to do interactive Math lessons and also Language Arts to gain tactile demonstrations by utilizing the smart board. Furthermore, content base learning will be easily accessible when we utilize Brainpopjr.com to watch science and social studies that supports or curriculum. Students can take turns using the lap top by getting on Resects and reading books and answering questions. They will be able to listen to books being read while building their reading skills and developing language acquisition. Additionally students can do independent research.

Having this donation in our classroom will allow me the opportunity to provide more engaging activities for the students via the smart board.

Students can work in pairs on specific sites to add to the learning process . With this donation our class can utilize presentations that come on CD with tape. The visual and auditory learners will be catered to. The students' lives will be better because there will be a higher level of motivation and they will e exposed to the use of technology.
