Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom consists of 18 preschoolers, several of whom have special needs. The majority of my students are English Language Learners with various backgrounds.

I have a diverse group of students who are curious learners and love to share their experiences.

While many of my students are new to the country, this is also their first time in a school setting. Please help me provide them with the resources and opportunities to further their experiences and expand their knowledge to help them feel and become successful.

My Project

Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity. My students love to learn with their hands and that is evident through their frequent visits to the sensory table which often contains sand and/or water. The alphabet and number floating toys as well as the water beads will be a great addition to that center, especially during our water unit. These toys will be used to build upon my students' academic skills and fine motor play. These materials will also help my students with their sensory needs while they play.

Besides our sensory table, our science center is another place that my students love to explore.

By providing them with more natural materials such as wood chips, they will be able to build and explore new ways to create. This project would allow my students to practice a variety of building, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. The notebooks would then be used for my students to draw out their plans as well as their end result.
