Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a classroom for students with Autism in an Urban community. Our students are working on social and play skills. These toys will help them play together and engage in conversation to make meaningful connections with other students. They will be able to relate their play environment with real life situations at home and out in the community. The kitchen and food playsets will help create a dramatic play area simulating their home and stores where they help and shop with their families learning life skills and communication. The board book and social emotional toys will help students understand and manage their emotions in a positive way. Using the kinetic sand in our sand table will give students the chance to play with friends using kinesthetics to help regulate their sensory needs while being creative. The Research shows that learning through play is very successful. It is important for our students to build the social skills to become active members of our community.
