Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year, I leverage my students' eagerness and curiosity to introduce new games and activities in PE. My goal for this project is to introduce team handball to my students, so they can develop and reinforce several motor-skills that are transferrable to other sports.

The goal for this project is to give my students the experience of playing team handball, while getting the feeling of team camaraderie that wearing the pinnies will create for my students.

My students think of elementary handball when they hear team handball. I believe this is a great teachable moments that will clarify misconceptions and that will introduce my students to an exciting game where many skills can be learned.

The different sized balls will enabled students to use good mechanics, the nets will create a clear, tangible and aesthetically pleasing target that students can get immediate visual feedback o their skills. In addition, the pinnies will allow students to be part of a team that can be easily identified by teammates and for instructional purposes such as giving whole group feedback.

This opportunity will allow students to collaborate within their skill level. They can practice the necessary related skills while developing friendships that can potentially last a long time.
