Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our TK students are 4 and 5 year olds who live in the low income mid city district of Los Angeles. Our students come to school everyday and we have the highest attendance for a title one/low income school with a population of about 800 students. The transitional kindergarteners are a rambunctious, beautiful bunch of kids with so much life, love and learning to be had. They deserve everything the world has to offer and more! We are so proud of them! Every step of the way!

My Project

In Transitional Kindergarten, my students are learning about communities. The beach is a place we focus on so the sensory sand kit is something I know would my students would benefit from a great deal! As they explore and dig in the sand, they would find shells, rocks , etc.The pretend appliances would directly help the students in dramatic play. As we learn about families and places in our home, the students are able to learn through playing and pretending to act as a family. Finally, the building toys will help them build, work together and problem solve as a team!
