This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Don't you love listening to a great story? It's nice to be able to hear another person's interpretation of a much loved story. My class loves listening to stories, especially when they can choose a story that they might not be able to read on their own.

I have a class of 22 second graders from all walks of life.

Some are reading on grade level, while others are just starting out. I also have many Second Language Learners who are still struggling with finding the right words and figuring out proper grammar. Our school is located in a more rural part of the island and often many students hear different dialects of language at home and in the community.

My Project

Our class is in need of more Listening Center Books on CD. My students pour through books in my class and the Listening Center is one of their favorites. However, this center loses it's appeal when there are only a few choices of what to read and listen to. By adding to our library, students are excited and engaged in the variety of books that they can choose to listen to and read along with.

By donating to our project you will help to increase the resources in our Listening Library and give the students a variety of choice.

For my struggling students it gives them more opportunities to practice their reading when they are able to hear and follow along with grade appropriate texts.
