My Students

Do remember what it was like when you were little to hear a story come alive as it was being read to you by someone you love? The characters seemed to be in the very room and the excitement on your face from the story could be seen from miles. Listening centers bring that excitement daily.

My class consists of 20 vibrant 2nd graders.

Our class is lively and eager to learn. We absolutely love to read and write about anything and everything. There is never a dull moment in our classroom. From hands-on learning activities to interactive iPad lessons, learning is always an adventure in our class. The majority of my students come from military families. Thankfully, their mothers and fathers serve our country unselfishly daily. Their parents are deployed for some or all of the school year. I try to provide them with structure and routines at school to keep that portion of their lives consistent.

My Project

My students need books with CDs for the classroom listening center and fluency resources for the listening center. With these wonderful resources, my students will be able to listen and read stories independently. Through having listening center resources, students will be able to embrace my joy of books and the love of reading. These resources will help students develop confidence in their reading skills and also expose them to more examples of great readers.

Student engagement and learning are key to the lives of each and every student that steps foot in the classroom.

Listening to reading helps develop strong confident readers. This literacy project will develop even better readers, boost engagement, and promote lifelong learners. My 2nd graders come in every morning with an eagerness to learn. I match that eagerness with giving them my best. Help me give them the best.
