Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Children in my classroom need exploration time. They need and crave more tactile exploration. My students are given independent work time where they get to play and explore. They look forward to playing these educational games all the time. These games play a big part of their learning.

My students are 5 year old Kinder students.

They are happy, and excited students who come to school every day eager to learn what I, the teacher, has prepared for the day. The school they come to services low income family students. It has a little over 550 students from Per-k all the way up to 5th grade. All students in the school receive free meals throughout the year. All teachers strive their very best to provide the best teaching to all the students.

My Project

My students will use the play-dough, letter stamps, and number stamps as an exploration activity during independent work time. The students will be able to make, copy, and move letters in a different way other than paper and pencil. The students will have fun exploring letters and numbers and they will then be encouraged to learn more on a daily basis. Students will understand that learning can be fun. My students will be able to understand and make a connection with the real world that letters and numbers are all around us. My students will also use the drying rack to use for their future art work that will be done throughout the year. They will be able to keep their art in a safe corner without smudging paint on the floor or tables while it dries. We will use the storage stool to do the many read alouds that I enjoy sharing with my students on a daily basis. I would be able to store all the read aloud books in a safe place and they will be at a hands reach inside the storage stool.

My students are in Kinder and since they are so young this is where we as educators need to do our very best to grab on to their love of learning.

We need to come up with great ways for our students to learn effectively. We need to use various methods and tools to help them get there. These materials will enhance our print rich environment classroom. My students will not only enjoy using these materials but will use learn and at the same time learn from them; and that is my ultimate goal.
