Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from low-income families who have not all had the opportunity to experience everything the world has to offer them. They are able to use what is provided to them inside the classroom, but would love to enhance their learning even more! My students are eager to learn, and would benefit from hands-on activities and other resources that will allow them to grow.

Knowing that many of my students are unable to afford educational materials necessary to grow, I am eager to find a way to provide it to them on my own!

My Project

My students are very creative when given a piece of paper and pencil. They love to draw and engage in hands-on experiences. I want to provide my students with the opportunity to show what they learned through art. This includes creating models and projects based on our reading, writing, math, and social studies curriculum. I am asking for Play-Doh so that students can create 3-D models of story characters. I am also asking for wax sticks and tissue paper so that students can create the backgrounds (settings) for their projects.

I believe hands-on experiences will allow my students to express their knowledge in creative ways.

One project we will be working on is related to story elements from our fiction books. Students will use a graphic organizer to organize their thoughts and ideas first, and then will be given the opportunity to create the story with the materials presented to them.
