My Students

My students are a community of learners who are taught to support one another from day one. Each student has areas in which he or she shines and uses those abilities to guide their classmates through peer support. Within my classroom, 40% of the students have an IEP and are provided with related services and a Special Ed placement. The other 60% are a general education population.

What makes my classroom unique, is that an outsider would never be able to differentiate which students are the Special Ed students.

All students participate in classroom activities and classroom discussions. My co-teacher and I work with students in small groups whether it is to extend their thinking or to provide support.

My Project

My students respond well to learning through a hands-on multi-sensory learning experience. By tapping into the various learning styles in each student, students with special needs, we are able to bring out the true potential of each student. When students are a part of the learning experience and learn in a fun way that incorporates all 5 senses, they come alive, and learning magic can occur.

Art, as well as dramatic play, allows for creativity.

Kids can let their imaginations go which makes the learning more meaningful and productive.
