My Students

Each day, my students ask to use privacy boards during writing workshop to help them concentrate. We currently only have two boards and have to take turns each day. These privacy boards and clipboards will allow my students to spread out and work independently without getting distracted by others!

My classroom is made up of twenty third graders, all of whom are very eager to learn.

Our school is considered moderate poverty and is located in an area outside of Central Ohio. My students are learning how to be leaders in the classroom and in life!

My Project

During writing workshop, my students are very cramped working at their desks with their binders, journals, and other resources. I would like to give them the opportunity to spread out and work on the carpet, if they choose. The only problem is that I don't have clipboards for my students to use while sitting on the carpet. By spreading out, my students will be able to focus and concentrate on their own writing without being distracted by others around them. Another way that my students would be better able to concentrate is with privacy boards. We currently only have two in our classroom and every day my students are begging to use one. I work hard each day to teach my students to be problem solvers- if they can't concentrate at their desk then I encourage them to brainstorm a solution to their problem. When they come up with the idea of using a privacy board, I want to be able to provide them with this resource!

These clipboards and privacy boards will enable my students to have a more successful writing workshop each day.

Writing takes a lot of concentrating for my students. These materials will help them work independently in their own comfortable space!
