Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am an early childhood special education teacher at a title one campus. More than 80% of our campus is economically disadvantaged. These kids come from all walks of life and have a wide variety of needs.

My classroom population will consist of both general education and special education 3-4 year olds.

These students struggle with multiple skills, some examples are social emotional, interpersonal, motor skills, and sensory issues.

In my classroom, we learn through play. With these tools I plan to enrich them in hands on activities to build their fine motor skills as well as limit issues due to sensory issues. In this project I have items such as light covers to limit the extra light in my room to provide for a calmer area with less external stimuli. I also included items to help me remain organized as my student population needs structure to focus and learn their best. The hands on tools will give these kids the ability to collaborate and independently work to establish a strong foundation before moving to Kindergarten next year.
