Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love my students enthusiasm for learning. I love the school family we have built over the years and continue to expand upon. Most of all I love coming to school each day and working with the kids in the pursuit of excellence.

I teach at a high Hispanic, Title I school in Tampa where over 90% of students are on the free lunch program.

Most of our student population is Hispanic/Latino, and our families typically have multiple students. Since many of my students are still new to the English language, they are mostly visual learners and need more exposure to vocabulary.

My students want to learn. My families want the best education for their children. I want to allow my students the same opportunities, while still accommodating their different needs and preparing them for the ever-changing 21st Century jobs they will have.

My Project

As a resource teacher, I love being able to work with students in all grade levels both academically and behaviorally. I also am in charge of our schools Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which focuses on positive behavior choices. Students earn tickets for making good choices and can use those tickets to shop at the School Store.

We have some incredibly talented students that would love to share their creativity with others - and students who would love to support their peers.

I would like to allow students the chance to create appropriate shirts and stickers that students can purchase with their tickets. Students can use the stickers to label their water bottles or can add some needed new clothes to their closets. The best part is our students get to support each other and learn valuable skills for the future!
