The best 4th grade class at HES is determined to make a change!
Our schools create a lot of waste and we need ideas on how to make good use of it.
Starting with the materials we use to the things we purchase, we are learning to think a moment about how they are made and gravitate towards recycled materials.
For example, we are taking the plastic cups in from the applesauce they serve every morning, gathering some soil, and starting seedlings so we can revive the school garden.
We use paper towels to wipe down our whiteboards but create a lot of waste (and they are messy) so the dry-erase markers, pocket sleeves, and marker erasers on this list are of utmost importance.
We are starting with these very small steps and moving into the bigger broader picture.
The books on recycled material projects on this list will give us ideas that we can collaborate on as a class.
