Students at my school come together from many different backgrounds and abilities to create a beautiful community that we call home. We have self-contained Montessori classes and self-contained gifted classrooms, as well as our mainstream classrooms, so we are able to meet a large variety of learning styles and student needs.
My students are curious about how the world works, and I try to foster that curiosity with project-based curriculum, and hands-on learning experiences.
My Project
Sight words are perhaps the most challenging skill for kindergarten students to acquire. They take lots of interactions and practice to master.
All the different hands-on materials will go a long way to help them master this difficult task.
Building sight words with letters will cement in their minds how to form the words. Building sight words with snap letters will accomplish the same task. Combining the building and writing of the sight words will definitely go a long way.
I plan to use the magnetic sight words on our word wall and play learning games with the class.
