Learning Sculpture with Foam Carving!

My Project

My 3rd graders started their school careers during Covid, behind a screen. They missed a whole year of hands-on art exploration and I'd love to give them a chance to try sculpture. Children can find their 'voice' in art, but with just the usual crayons and watercolors, they are limited. I want them to experience 3D art.

Access to high-quality sculpture materials empowers students to take ownership of their creative process and develop technical proficiency.

With so much attention focused on test scores, the arts and humanities are often overlooked and this grant will give my students an opportunity that they have never had before in school.

Many kids have used clay but on a limited basis. This grant will provide a completely new sculpture media—carving foam, allowing students a completely new way to express their artistic vision and learning styles. They will have an opportunity to create a free-standing abstract sculpture as well as a relief sculpture. They will be then able to finish their projects off with the beauty and shine of quality acrylic paints and a sealer.
