Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am proud to teach at an inner-city school in Houston, Texas which supports mostly economically disadvantaged students. My school is almost English language learners who struggle to learn to read, write, and speak the English language.

The children are hardworking and have a great thirst for knowledge.

Having hands-on materials for Science will go a long way in helping to make learning fun. The New Path Learning Centers will allow the students to work together at their tables and focus on individual science concepts such as the solar system, properties of matter, force and motion, and magnetism.

This upcoming school year will significantly challenge the students and me. I will have several English language learners who are just beginning to gain the ability to read and write in English. Academic vocabulary in Science will be challenging for my students, but completing hands-on activities will make it easier to comprehend and remember. The bulletin board sets will allow me to have visuals posted that will remind students daily of the concepts we are studying.

In conclusion, the learning centers will make the science objectives easier for my students to comprehend and have fun while learning Science.
