My Project

I am a first year teacher, anxiously awaiting to meet my incoming students. I have looked through the course book by Carnegie. The supplies I requested will ensure that we, as a class, will be able to complete the lessons in the book. I chose whiteboards because of their ability to serve as instant formative assessment during a lesson. I can ask the class to solve the problem with me on their white board and we can all show our attempts at the same time. This will be an indicator of the comprehension of the group as a whole, as well as give me feedback in regard to improving my verbiage or processes for solving the problem.

I plan to give each student an interactive notebook that will serve as their passport through their learning journey!

They will be able to tape or glue assignments into the workbook, as well as spots for notes, journaling, small wins, struggles, and doodles, I'm sure. All to be addressed during notebook checks. At the end of the year they will have tangible evidence of the hard work they put into their education throughout the year and will hopefully look back and review the progress that was made, both in math and as a growing human.
