My Students

At my school, many children start kindergarten underprepared for school because, due to financial restrictions, they were unable to attend any prekindergarten programs. In fact, poverty affects so many at our school that over 80% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. In addition to having low socioeconomic status, 40% of the students’ native language is something other than English which creates even further disparity for them in the classroom. Many students are raised in single-parent households or by grandparents or other relatives.

I am happy to welcome all of these students into my classroom.

I also teach students with special needs such as autism or developmental delays. Because my classroom is an inclusion classroom, I also teach typical, non-disabled students who provide much-needed peer modeling for the ones that need additional help.

My Project

A is for apple, acorn and alligator…B is for boat, bottle and banana! These teaching tubs are perfect for exploring letter sounds, identify and sort a variety of adorable miniatures, play memory games and build vocabulary skills. Each self-checking tub comes with 6 high-quality, educator-approved objects, plus uppercase and lowercase plastic letters…we’ve even included hard-to-find items like an igloo, X-ray, quilt and working yo-yo. The 26 tubs come with a total of 208 letters and manipulatives, plus an extensive teacher’s guide filled with games, activities and teaching suggestions. These teaching tubs are perfect for young children to learn through play!
