Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When I said goodbye to my students in March, I didn't realize it would be the last time I was seeing them this year. They left with the intention of coming back and as a result, did not take all their needed supplies with them.

The focus of their learning has now been to provide distance learning through virtual means in which many students did not have computers or have outdated broken ones without cameras.

Being from a school with students with families with low income and multiple jobs, my students are struggling to have support at home to be successful. My students are eager to learn and see one another once again through our Zoom meetings which many must rely upon their parents to get home to use their phones to do. My students are wanting to go back to normal life and unfortunately, this is the only normal that I can provide for them during this time. We must continue to fight through this and work together to show them that their education is still important and our number one priority!

My Project

Our students are continuously in need of technology as we continue to navigate through distance learning. Often times, I get calls throughout the day to replace laptops, charging cables, and pieces as things begin to break because of use. It is my job to ensure that they have all the tools necessary to be able to continue their distance learning as smoothly as possible considering the trying times that we are in. I need to be able to give them the proper equipment at a moment's notice to be able to complete assignments.

A conversion kit allows me to create a mobile laptop station that will allow me to go around the school and be able to provide students with charged laptops on the spot!

This ensures that students do not lose a minute of learning as I am able to replace their laptops immediately with others that are functioning and charged. This will make distance learning a smoother transition for students when times are harder than ever for them.
