Learning on the Go!

My students need a portable easel for differentiated instructional groups. This will help them work out problems and demonstrate their learning. I will also be using this during small groups to meet the needs of students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is very diverse, I have 36 students ranging from students who just arrived to our country as ESOL level 1s to students that were born and raised in this community. It shows me that nature and nurture both play vital roles in the development of children, and that each student has different attributes to bring into our classroom.

Our school is a Title 1 school, which means that we are in a low income area with at risk students.

Most of the students in my classroom come from low economic backgrounds.

Motivating these students is key in my classroom, many times it is hard to get parental involvement at my school but with drive and determination from the students and myself, I believe that we can reach and surpass our goals.

My Project

This easel will help make learning more mobile. We work in small groups every day to meet all needs. After every Topic Assessment students are grouped by level for differentiated instruction for 30 minutes a day. Some students need to be completely re-taught the standard for that topic, some need a little extra help in order to master the standard, and those who have already mastered it will receive enrichment strategies to work on. Having a mobile easel will help me move to the different groups and instruct them in a way where I can meet their individual needs using different strategies to meet all needs.

Learning will be mobile, interactive, and productive during small group instruction with a mobile easel.

With this easel I will be able to demonstrate prerequisite examples and problems to my low group, move to my on-level group and work on strategies to help them master a topic, and then move to my above-level group and give them enrichment problems and strategies. I think this is what my differentiated instructional time has been lacking and I know it will help all students get a step closer to reaching their goals.
