My Students

At our school our students come from all over the world. They each bring their own unique talents and experiences to the classroom and are incredibly excited about learning.

They are full of energy and enthusiasm and are beginning to come together to support one another!

They are passionate and love learning! As we read stories, they are constantly examining the illustrations and making observations that they are eager to share with one another. They are always asking questions, wondering why things work the way they do, or how things come about. They love working together with one another and encouraging each other to become leaders!

My Project

Over the past several years we as a staff have realized how crucial and transformation foundational skills lesson are for our students. Knowing that, we have devoted ourselves to implementing quality phonics lessons for our students, teaching them to analyze and decode words to become the best readers possible. But we know that whole group phonics instruction is not enough!

We know that each of our students has their own individual strengths, and their own skills that they need to work on.

Through careful analysis of data, we have begun noticing which skills our students have mastered, and which skills they need more support on. With this data in mind we have begun to plan independent activities for students to practice the skills that they need to continue to grow as readers and writers!

Having ink for a printer, cardstock, and laminating sheets will allow us to create activities to help our students practice the skills they need in an engaging (and hopefully enduring way)! Ziploc bags will support storing these materials so as students move on from one skill set the materials can be stored until another group needs them!

Our students deserve the best education, supported by materials to meet their needs! Together we can make sure that all students are reading at or above level by fourth grade!
