Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Special Education educator at the RHH School in Staten Island. I currently teach 9th grade, 8:1:1 high school in a district 75 school My students make me so proud displaying their determination, and for sharing their lives with me. Please help me give my students the visual, audio, and hands-on materials to enhance all areas of learning. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing a safe environment, supporting risk-taking, and inviting a sharing of ideas. My students bring me such joy, I just want to be able to provide them with the proper tools to succeed in the classroom.

My Project

Money Skills

We use our understanding of numbers, math, and money every day.

Whether we are shopping for groceries, making a budget, or paying a utility bill, we need to understand the basic concepts related to money and how much things cost. Many children learn money skills through general education and personal experience, or by watching their parents. However, students with disabilities often need special instruction to develop money skills. One of the most basic and critical skills associated with understanding money is the difference between coins and bills. Giving students with unique abilities the tools needed to comprehend money skills in everyday life skills.
