Learning Math Without Interruptions

My Project

With your kind donations, a new lightweight robust Microsoft Surface laptop/tablet and type cover will take the place of the school-issued computer currently in use, which is running old software and can not function properly to fully support the Smartboard in my classroom.

Since this Microsoft Surface Go packs a lot of speed and space, it will be a substantially more reliable way to deliver instruction without interruption.

On many occasions, the school-issued technology has spontaneously shut down in the middle of Precalculus lessons, derailing the pinnacle moment of a lesson, as well as costing valuable class time to troubleshoot technology and refocus students. My students are eager to explore new mathematical concepts and share their ideas. Many of our lessons include the analysis of visual diagrams or graphs. The frequent experience of waiting for technology to reboot so that we can continue meaningful discussions of math concepts has caused a lot of stress and frustration for both me and my students. This Microsoft Surface Go will help maintain a well functioning setup for delivering instruction that will create a calm space and worry-free environment for my students to engage in learning math. The way students feel about learning has a direct effect on how they are able to successfully receive and process information.

In addition to improving lessons for students in real time, the portability and durability of this tablet will allow me to easily create video lessons and other digital resources for students to use as a supplement to instruction. At a time where education is reliant on the robustness of technology, this Surface Go will allow me to provide seamless math instruction for students whether they are in class, at home for extended periods, or would just like multiple access points to understanding concepts.
