Learning Math On A Larger Scale

Help me give my students a large Connect 4 game and spinner to help develop math skills, encourage physical activity, and enhance their learning through cooperative play.

My Project

An oversized Connect 4 game is more than just a fun activity—it’s a powerful tool for developing early math skills in Pre-K students. As children drop the discs into the grid, they naturally engage in counting, pattern recognition, and spatial reasoning. They begin to notice sequences, predict outcomes, and understand basic concepts of rows and columns, which lay the foundation for early geometry and number sense. This game will give my students an opportunity to gain confidence in their mathematical abilities while having fun.

The spinner game is another exciting way to build foundational math skills.

As children spin and move according to the results, they practice number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and simple addition. It also strengthens fine motor skills and introduces the concept of probability, as students begin to predict possible outcomes. Both games encourage cooperative play while reinforcing essential math concepts in a fun, hands-on way.
