This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from Waukegan Illinois are an excited group of bilingual learners. This group of students will be part of a school-wide shift to the IB curriculum. In order to make this shift, we are all working together to ask thoughtful questions, explore new topics, and become more open-minded.

My students come from a community that has increasingly become more diverse over the years.

100% of these students are bilingual and English language learners. They are enthusiastic to learn math and science in their native language!

My Project

It has been shown that hands-on learning is one of the best ways for students to retain and use the information they have learned. This is especially important in math class. All of the resources I selected will be used for hands-on learning especially during our math centers. These resources will support my students in their understanding of place value, fractions, and decimals. Fourth-grade math is an exciting year with lots of new concepts! As a teacher, I want to make this learning process as exciting and comfortable as possible.

As a first-year teacher, it can be a challenge to build up the collection of resources that are needed for optimal student learning.

These materials will help me as an educator to provide my students with the quality education they deserve. By supporting this project, you will be supporting fourth-grade bilingual learners in their new math journey!
