My Students

Our students come to school eager to learn with their mind and heart open for everything their teachers have to offer.

School is a very important part of our students' lives.

We teach at a Title I school with over 70% of our students receiving a free or reduced-price lunch and all of our students get free breakfast in the mornings. We have a backpack program that sends home food with kids over the weekend and offers free lunch for students over the summer break.

My Project

I am requesting two literacy games that my students can play during daily 5/literacy centers. The games are a letter/sound acorn matchup and a puzzle to match a picture to the word. These games will help my students work on their letter recognition, sounds, and kindergarten sight words. These games will keep my students engaged while learning and having fun at the same time. I am also requesting a math popsicle game to help my struggling students in counting and finding the number that matches the set. This will be a hands-on experience for my students. I am also requesting a pencil sharpener to help keep all the students' pencils sharp.

Helping students develop a passion for reading and math starting at an early age is the best gift that we, as educators, can give.

In order to motivate my students at a developmentally-appropriate level, I find that these letter/sight word games and math puzzle will provide the concrete experience for students to be engaged and have fun learning!
