Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For many of my kindergartners, this is their first experience in a school. My students are curious hard-working, and they love to explore and learn. My school is a Title l school. It serves almost all low-income students, with many of my students speaking English as their second language. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a pencil.

My Project

There is so much learning and growth in kindergarten. Students are building the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Students are learning to recognize letter names and sounds to read and write independently. The hands-on language arts manipulatives Letter Crayons Word Building Center, Simple Words Learning Locks, and Lowercase Alphabet Dough Stampers will be used to build words to read. The Alphabet Rockets, Linking Letter Monkeys, and Alphabet Train Floor Puzzle will help students with letter recognition and placing letters in order. The manipulatives reinforce skills and give my students a way to over-learn reading, writing, and building words in a fun and engaging way. The best part about the manipulatives is that it is academic, but the students don't know they are learning.
