Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 5th graders, mostly English language Learners from the Bronx. The majority of them come from poor families, mostly Hispanic immigrant families. They attend a Title I school in one of the poorest districts in NYC. However, regardless of these factors, my students are motivated and eager to learn every day. They love coming to school and working collaboratively with one another.

My Project

We live in a tech-savvy world and now more than ever, we rely heavily on technology in schools. Due to the pandemic, many students will either be learning completely remotely or in a blended model that includes some days of in-person learning and some days of remote learning a week. The majority of the school's laptops were provided to as many families as possible. There are still many families I work with, that do not have the financial means to provide their children with a laptop or iPad. This project aims to increase students' access to technology and provide them with the tools and resources needed in order to learn more about the world around them. I am requesting Chromebooks for my classroom to be used in all subject areas.
