Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As the year starts, I already see a group of motivated second grade students who are excited about school, and are ready to learn!! The greatest thing is that I taught them last year! They are from one of the lowest poverty driven school districts, which means they don't have a lot. They are energetic and intriguing! They are full of giggles, smiles and love, and have already stolen a piece of my heart. Their desire to become better readers is the driving force for this 2019-2020 school year.

My Project

Once my students found that I would be their teacher again in the 2019-2020 school year we started discussing how we can enhance learning. In our new second grade looping classroom we decided to have flexibility in our classroom. Flexible seating can range from just allowing students to choose their seats or move around the classroom more frequently to elaborately planned rooms with a wide range of seating options that allow students to choose to work at different heights and in different positions. When we are working in groups these tables will allow us to work together in a round table format as well as sit in flexible seat that freely allow us to sit and think in a free way.
