This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love going to the garden to clean weeds and deposit food scraps they save from their lunches. We started going to the garden because of our science unit on whether and climate. We learned about the problems that affect our planet such as pollution and climate change. We learned about the benefits of recycling and composting so we decided to start a system of trash collection and sort. This project is the next step to creating a more environmentally friendly school.

Now that we successfully launched our composting and recycling systems, we need a raised bed and garden tools to plant veggies and pollinators to come full circle.

While growing our own plants my students will learn about live cycles of plants, symbiotic relations between insects and plants, food webs, sustainability and of course have lots of fun being outdoors.
