My Students

To be successful competitors in the 21st century, my students need the materials available in our today's society to reinforce technology skills in reading, math, writing and science.

My class consist of 29 fifth grade inner city students in Tennessee.

Many of the students are below poverty levels and receive free and reduced lunch. They are predominately African-American, African, and Mexican. They speak English, Spanish, and Fulani. The students in my class are highly motivated and eager to learn. They are inquisitive and very energetic. My students love technology! My students deserve to be inspired when learning by using what they love, TECHNOLOGY. Students are finding it hard to share with limited technology in the classroom. My students need support to develop their technological skills that goes beyond the classroom in the 21st century.

My Project

The laptop will motivate and embrace my eager learners in the 21st century. It can be used as a learning tool to help reinforce the standards in our curriculum. The laptop will help my students with reading, math, writing, science and much more by using the free application available online. This device will be placed where small groups of students will rotate twice a week. My students will spend 20 minutes reinforcing the core subjects. They will also use the laptop to create and type projects.

I want my students to develop a lifetime love of learning.

It is very difficult to ask students to compete in the 21st century with given the proper tools to be successful. Every child can learn, and every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn regardless of their economic social status.
