Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students need to learn together in a comfortable environment. My 5th grade students are diverse in culture and at the heart. My students are general education students, students with disabilities, and English language learners with multiple different needs and I try to meet them all. Studies have shown that all students need to feel safe and comfortable in order to learn their best. While all students need a comfortable environment to learn, this may be the only comfortable environment for some of my students so I want to make it the best space possible! Our class meets up close in the meeting area. With 32 students, many students have to sit on the floor so we can be close enough to have deep and meaningful conversations. A carpet and flexible seating will help my students be comfortable so they can focus on the conversation and not the hard floor.
