Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students deal with drastic, desperate needs in their lives; I am working to give them a maker's space that is abundant in resources! Our school fundraises almost all of our operating costs because we serve an extremely high-trauma, high need population of students. We aim to give them a vision of their future that does not include the grim realities and already face.

This 3-D printer will be used to create a new vision of our students' futures!

They will be bringing abstract ideas (like their paper designs for sub-irrigated planters) to life to support their scalable work to build an edible garden in our school courtyard! There is a big step between "I think I can do it" and "I created that"...but we can't get there if we don't have the physical resources and materials to even consider the "I think I can do it" stage. This equipment is a pivotal piece in their work--and essential to their understanding that they can make a real, tangible things that impacts their world.
