My Students

For many of us, this pandemic has thrown us into a virtual world that we had only dabbled in before, students and teachers alike. As my students and I enter into another semester of online learning I want to be able to give them the best that I can offer because I know this is not an easy time.

I teach at an all girls, Title I school in New York City.

My students are creative, energetic, and always ready to learn something new. Many of my girls may not have a technology background but we are working together to figure things out.

My Project

I have ordered materials that will help me bring a better virtual learning experience to my students. I needed to create an atmosphere that will provide a smooth, interactive, and engaging learning environment. A USB hub and power strip will keep the lessons going for 6 hours a day, a dry erase board will help students visualize the topics that we are learning about, and science related texts that have great illustrations to help students make a text to real life connection.

With no books being distributed at this time due to the pandemic, I need everything that I can use to make this experience a great one for my students.

I have also ordered items, like penguin ice tray molds, that will help me complete science demonstrations (thermal energy) at home to upload for students to see. I’ve ordered brightly colored paper to use during my instruction to help break up the monotony and laminating machine with pouches, so I can bring those papers back to the classroom when we resume in person.
