My Students

I am a first year APE (Adapted Physical Education) teacher for students with disabilities at an elementary school. I am also new to Donors Choose and completed 2 projects thus far. I want my students to be able to understand and internalize all the information I teach them using this project.

My students range from 3-5 grade and are very delightful.

They are energetic and love to participate in activities. They are fascinated by new equipment and having a variety of visual or tactile equipment will benefit them in many ways. We would like to thank you in advance again for any and all contributions. I am trying to create an extensive health curriculum to help my students for years to come.

My Project

I am requesting a heart model, fat replica and muscle replica to use as a visual and tactile aids for lessons about the human body. My students will learn not only about healthy eating habits but with these materials they will learn about anatomy. My lessons are interactive and hands on which usually includes manipulatives for my students to work with while learning about different subjects. Health and nutrition is important to live long, healthy lives. The fruit and vegetable stamps/books will be used to help reinforce and reiterate a lesson after I teach the students about them. The food cards and activity book allows students to engage in an activity using what was just taught.

This project will help create different ways for my students to learn and adapting lessons is the main focus of teachers that deal with students of varying disabilities.
