My Students

I have a group of energetic and eager first grade students! A typical day in our classroom consists mostly of differentiated work. This accesses each student's entry point and allows them to soar into learning. I want my students to exceed standards while experiencing the fun and a love of learning.

I have 25 amazing and unique individuals in my classroom this year.

I am lucky enough to call them my students. We are a Title 1, low income school. Students come from diverse backgrounds where English is not often the main language spoken at home. We need all of the help we can get to watch our students grow, succeed, and exceed all expectations we place upon them. I hope to use these learning games in conjunction with our school's current ELA and math programs.

My Project

Learning in our classroom starts with a whole group mini lesson. Then students are sent to their differentiated small groups to work on their level. Students complete group work and then proceed to use their learning games. These games will be used to supplement and reinforce skills taught during our whole group instruction. The ELA games that I requested include phonemic awareness, vowel sounds, sight words, word families, language skills, vocabulary, comprehension, and phonics. These games reinforce skills essential for a strong literacy foundation and therefore success in first grade and beyond! The math games that I requested include operations, money, place value, geometry, time, and measurement. These skills are taught in first grade and built upon in the coming grades. I am always trying to tap into the various learning styles of my students. I believe that my students will benefit from having these resources because it will give them a fun and different way of learning.

These donations will definitely improve learning in my classroom.

Students will have fun and exciting games to play. The will be able to reinforce skills in a new and different way. The best part about these games is that they will still be learning!
