Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There are a total 40 students so far that require Specialized Academic Instruction with more students qualifying every trimester. Some students struggle with learning while others struggle with behavior. Some students are homeless and/or doubled up in apartments or hotels. Some are in single family homes. Others have relatives that have been to prison.

The students are happy to be at school.

They feel safe and loved.

Our school is a wonderful school that teaches all students to be kind and accept people's differences. Most of the students receive a free or reduced lunch and free after school care. There are also clubs that the students can be a part of at no cost to the family like Garden Club, Lego Club, Coding Club, and a Sunshine Club.

My Project

The privacy boards allow the students that have anxiety and are easily distracted in class to focus on assignments and tests. It helps them feel more sure of themselves in their little work area. The privacy boards can also be used during the statewide assessments that require for most of my students to take the test in a smaller group setting. The trace and write activity is excellent for students that struggle coming up with sentences or stories by allowing them to trace the picture then use some of the words listed to create a story. The reward treasure chest gives students the chance to earn prizes for completing their work.

All of the students in my classroom have their strengths but require positive reinforcement in order to complete tasks.

Some require special breaks during a lesson to keep them motivated. By receiving the breaks and reinforcement, it helps them feel successful. The prizes would motivate to try their best in class and would be a great way to reinforce desired behaviors! My desire is to allow all of my students to have different experiences and opportunities. They would like to be successful and need extra support to do well.
