Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My elementary school is located in Philadelphia. The school has a very diverse student population with the majority of students are Hispanic and or African American. More then 90% of the student population lives below the poverty level.

I need to update my computer hardware to meet the challenges of the upcoming school year which has switched to online learning.

The students were given chromebooks in March to help them stay connected during the pandemic. However, my equipment was not updated and it was a challenge to get my equipment to connect to meetings and websites where I would assign work. Now, as my district is continuing with online learning I am worried that my current equipment will not be able to meet the challenges of online instruction. My students are hard workers and they met the challenge last year, I want to ensure that I am able to keep them engaged in their learning and be there when they need me even if it is online.

My Project

As the spread of the virus continues, my district, The School District of Philadelphia, has decided to go remotely for the first marking period. The district has not invested in any new technology for teachers, laptops to facilitate distance learning, I am finding that I am unable to update the software on my devices to keep up with the ever changing software. I need dependable hardware to ensure that not only am I able to connect with 750 plus students, but to also test out website and different activities that students need to work on.
