My Project

Teaching kids from high-poverty backgrounds about financial literacy is incredibly important. Our kids are eager to learn, and want to break the cycle of generational poverty. I believe this book with be a great way to start the study of financial literacy by introducing the it from the eyes of a student.

Many children growing up in poverty may not have access to financial education at home or in their communities.

By teaching them financial literacy, they can develop the skills to manage money effectively, make informed financial decisions, and ultimately improve their chances of breaking free from poverty.

Financial literacy helps kids gain a sense of control over their future. It empowers them to make smart financial choices, whether it's saving, budgeting, or understanding credit. This confidence can translate into better decision-making as they grow older, from college to adulthood.

Without financial education, kids might fall into patterns of overspending, taking on debt, or struggling to save. Teaching them basic principles like budgeting, the importance of saving, and how to avoid financial pitfalls can help prevent them from facing these struggles as they grow older.

Financial literacy can contribute to greater economic mobility by helping kids plan for the future, understand the value of education, and set goals for their careers. With this knowledge, they can make decisions that lead to greater financial stability and success.

A solid understanding of money helps children distinguish between needs and wants, recognize good investment opportunities, and navigate financial systems (e.g., banking, loans, insurance) in the future. These skills are vital for long-term financial health.

In communities with high poverty, entrepreneurial skills can be key to generating income and creating opportunities.

By teaching financial literacy, we are giving students the tools to make sound financial decision in the future.
