My students love to learn. I create a fun successful learning environment. They are eager to learn more and become more successful.
My School is low income where most of my students come from single parent homes.
I have 1 student whose parents are in jail and another student who is homeless. The majority of my students come from families with very limited financial resources. My students come from homes where financial literacy is not taught. Some of them even struggle with identifying coins.
My Project
My students will use the Ipad to practice counting coins (Count Money app by Horizon business In.), exchanging coins (Makingchange-Money Counting app by Steve Romej), adding coins, (3rd Grade Splash Math by Studypad, Inc.), and many other financial apps (AdVenture Capitalist! by Kongregate). I'm constantly looking for ways to engage my students in learning and growing. Nothing motivates my students more than using technology.
By using these apps and more they will have a greater understanding how to use money. They will learn in ways that will challenge them and they can have fun working independently.
Many apps will help the children review and practice using coin identification and counting coins.
They will also have the ability to access websites to reinforce their understanding of coin and dollar amounts, as well as adding the dollar values with coins. This would help deepen their understanding of the value and uses of money.
The students will also have access to IXL Math where they can practice many more financial lessons.
